TV size and viewing distance
How it works
Width and height come from the diagonal and aspect ratio: width = diagonal × W ÷ √(W² + H²).
The recommended range runs from a 40° field of view (THX, most cinematic) to 30° (SMPTE, comfortable for everyday viewing).
The 4K detail distance is where one pixel spans one arcminute, the resolving limit of 20/20 vision. Sit closer than that to see everything 4K adds.
